Driven by Safety

As the holidays are around the corner and the snow starts to fall, the excitement of winter begins! Traveling to see family, shopping for the holidays, and enjoying the glistening snow is one of the greatest anticipations of the season. During these exciting times, traveling is at its peak. Whether you are driving, taking the bus, train, or even flying, it is important to know the rules of the road to make sure you are being the safest you can be.

Here are rules and a short checklist to make sure you get to your destination safely:

FOCUS IN — Make sure your phone is out of reach. Connect it to your car if you need directions, and if you get a text message, WAIT until you are fully stopped and parked. Not at a stoplight or stop sign!

YOUR SPACE — If you are driving with friends or family, ask them to keep a calm atmosphere. No yelling, screaming, or loud sounds that could distract you while driving.

WEATHER — As temperatures plummet, marking the beginning of the snowy season, checking the weather before you travel is very important, and something people often forget. Plan accordingly and keep the weather in mind. Snowstorms and heavy rain are not something you want to drive through!

TRAFFIC — Holidays = Traffic. Lots of it. Unfortunately, drivers not only have to focus on themselves, but also on the drivers around them. Busier roads mean more accidents, so that extra focus is super important.

The holidays are exciting times, and using this checklist above will help ensure your driving experience is the safest it can be. Getting to your loved ones’ homes is your number one priority, so stay safe, stay warm, and encourage others you care about to follow this list as well!

Happy Holidays!
