WHAT IS THE #DRIVINGSKILLS101 PSA CHALLENGE?
Calling all teen drivers: this opportunity is for YOU!
SADD, in partnership with The National Road Safety Foundation (NRSF), knows that keeping teens safe on the road starts with understanding the risks they face. Teen drivers are still the most vulnerable group behind the wheel, with fatal crash rates nearly three times higher than adults. Speeding plays a major role in these tragedies, accounting for roughly one-third to nearly half of fatal teen crashes. Even with progress over the past two decades, speeding, inexperience, and risky habits keep teens over-represented in serious crashes.
Understanding how speed reduces reaction time, affects visibility, and magnifies crash forces can help teens make smarter decisions on the road. When young drivers know the why behind the risk, they’re more likely to change their behavior.
Teens also listen to other teens. By creating a Public Service Announcement (PSA) focused on safe driving, especially the dangers of speeding, you can use your voice to cut through the noise. A well-crafted PSA grabs attention, feels real, and can shift attitudes in a way traditional safety messages often can’t.
To participate in #DrivingSkills101, submit a video outlining your concept for a public service announcement that addresses the heightened risks of teen drivers who speed and the role of responsible choices in preventing serious crashes. Your voice has the power to protect not only you, but your friends, families, and everyone who shares the road.
