The holiday season is in full swing! I know what we’re all thinking about this time of year: prom! Okay, maybe I’m the only person thinking about prom in December, but you should be too! Now is the perfect time to start brainstorming your chapter plans for a prom event. It’ll be here before you know it!
One of my favorite programs that SADD offers is the PROMise Kit through a partnership with AAA – The Auto Club Group. This program is designed to keep everyone safe on the roadway during prom and graduation season by raising awareness of the dangers of distracted-, alcohol- and/or marijuana-impaired driving.
The promise is simple: I promise to not drive impaired, I promise to not let my friends drive impaired, and I promise to get home safely or call a caring adult for help. The promise is printed on a banner with space for student signatures, along with some fun stuff in the kit too! Last year my kit had some keychains, phone wallets, highlighters, and a couple of other small things.
We had over 100 schools last year receive a free AAA PROMise Kit from eligible states. There are a bunch of different ways to use your kit: be creative! And, as always, remember to share photos from your events with us @SADDNation.
The free kits are only available in AAA – The Auto Club Group states: Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virgin Islands, and Wisconsin.
