Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)
Announces Alum as President & CEO

Washington, D.C. – The Board of Directors of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) announced today that Richard “Rick” Birt has been named President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Birt will lead SADD in its mission to empower teens, engage parents, mobilize communities, and change lives.

Mr. Birt joined the SADD national staff in June 2014 in the role of Development Officer, and in 2015 became the Director of Strategic Partnerships. In 2016, he was promoted to serve as Executive Vice President and has served as the Acting CEO since June 2017. Rick has played a critical role in managing national programs and field relations, while fostering organizational and brand sustainability.

“We are excited to appoint Rick as President & CEO,” said Kendell Poole, Chairman of the SADD Board of Directors. “Rick has proven himself to be a champion for SADD and our students time and time again. He has an unmatched passion and commitment to our mission that we, as Board, believe will allow SADD to excel.”

“I am extremely honored to serve as President and CEO for SADD, an organization that has changed my life and so many others” said Birt. “Since I first joined SADD as a high school student, I have seen the power of peer-to-peer prevention. I’m looking forward to working with our students, staff, State Coordinators, and Board to expand our reach to communities across the country, as together we save lives.”
