Taking on a SADD Chapter Advisor Role
A teacher, coach, parent, or other caring adult from the community who acts in a guiding capacity for the chapter typically fills the Chapter Advisor role. Chapter Advisors work to ensure that the teens understand their roles and responsibilities and help to manage communications, logistics, and group dynamics. Training and support is available for Advisors, including an online “Advisor Academy, “ready-made programs and activity planning guides, and technical support from the State Coordinator and the national office. We strive to provide the tools and ongoing support needed to get a chapter up and running efficiently and effectively.
Chapter Advisors are entitled to benefits that include a connection to a nation-wide network of Advisors and eligibility to compete for SADD National awards and recognition. All potential Advisors must provide proof of current background check as part of the application process, be affiliated with a school or a youth-serving nonprofit organization.
Chapter Advisors play a vital role in empowering teens in their local community. See the requirements to start a chapter here.
