Meet the Organization Dedicated to Teen Leadership

Who We Are

SADD is a 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Marlborough, MA. SADD supports a national network by equipping SADD chapters with scientific-based, peer-to-peer educational trainings, programs & events, awareness campaigns, and leadership development opportunities. SADD National…

  • Advocates at the national level on relevant legislation;
  • Provides training and support to a network of State Coordinators, chapter advisors, and students;
  • Hosts an annual national conference;
  • Maintains a national website and monthly communication tools;
  • and conducts cutting-edge research with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.

Each state coordinator is responsible for managing SADD programming and developing and for supporting chapters within their state.

Peer-led chapters are formed by students in schools and community organizations and have one or two adult advisors who provide oversight and guidance. Chapter advisors typically consist of teachers, coaches, or school administrators. See below for a full list of informative SADD resources:

Originally, the mission of the SADD chapter was to help young people say “No” to drinking and driving. Today, the mission has expanded. Students have told us that positive peer pressure, role modeling, and environmental strategies can prevent other destructive decisions and set a healthier, safer course for their lives. That is why SADD has become a peer-to-peer education, prevention, and activism organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions. Because vehicle crashes are still the #1 killer of teens, our primary focus remains on traffic safety. However, we know the array of other issues our teens face have the potential to affect driving behavior and so we are committed to providing tools and prevention strategies that also address substance abuse and personal health and safety.

SADD strives to provide the youth of America with the resources they need to lead healthy, happy, and empowered lives. To learn more or get involved, feel free to contact us.
