MA SADD Programming
MA SADD is pleased to introduce new programming for the 09-10 school year. Please see below for a brief description for the coming year and contact MA SADD at masadd@sadd.org for more information!
Minigrant Program
SADD is thrilled to announce the availability of minigrant funding for the 09-10 school year. Chapters will receive up to $600 to address the key issues of underage drinking, safety belt use, and distracted driving. Interested? Please click here to fill out an application form. Fax or send the form to 508.481.5759 or esocha@sadd.org today! This program is funded by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
- Seatbelt Campaign
Belt usage is still a major concern in Massachusetts. Chapters will have the option to use their minigrant funds to focus on increasing belt rates at their school and in their community. (*Chapters may use minigrant funding to help support their participation in BIO!) - Distracted Driving Campaign
Distracted driving (including texting while driving, driving while drowsy, and speeding) is becoming more prevalent among both youth and adults. Chapters will have the option to use their minigrant funds to promote a distracted driving campaign in their school and community. - Underage Drinking Campaign
Underage drinking is an issue that affects not only youth but also parents, community leaders, and school officials. Chapters will have the opportunity to implement a kit developed by SADD that will help their school create a community wide campaign that will engage each of these parties separately and together in order to reduce underage drinking in the community. Minigrant funds may be used to help support this campaign or for other initiatives around underage drinking.
Belt It Out! Statewide Safety Belt Contest is Here!
MA SADD and MADD MA are excited to announce the 2009-2010 arrival of Belt It Out! (BIO). BIO is a statewide safety belt competition that runs October 2009 through April 2010 with the chance to win fabulous prizes for your school! Teams compete against other Massachusetts groups in an effort to raise belt numbers across the Commonwealth. Prizes will be awarded for greatest increase in percent use, most innovative programming, and best collaboration with media.

Chapter Registration
If you have not already done so, please don’t forget to register your chapter for the year. SADD asks all chapters to update their information annually (there are no dues or membership fees), especially if there has been a change in advisor or contact information. In return, we send a membership certificate and a free gift - currently a poster - as well as information about other resources we provide. Save the Date for the 2010 SADD National Conference in Orlando, FL!
Make sure to mark your calendars for the 2010 SADD National Conference in Orlando, Florida. The conference is set for Sunday, June 27, 2010 through Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Hotel. Ground package prices will remain the same as 2009 - $699/students; $799/adults. Information regarding registration will soon follow, but start to get your chapter excited and start fundraising now! MA SADD is now on Facebook!

The page was started in an effort to connect with SADD students on a regular basis and to give them an outlet to share their thoughts and opinions. The page will also be used to spread the word and post photos about events.

Morning School Announcements
Making daily announcements over the school intercom system is a great way for SADD chapters to promote safety messages. Use these announcements to publicize the new teen driving laws in Massachusetts. For more information on the new Junior Operator Laws (JOL), visit the RMV Web site at mass.gov/rmv.
