SADD National College Scholarship
Terms And Conditions
Founded as Students Against Driving Drunk in 1981 in Wayland, Massachusetts, SADD (now Students Against Destructive Decisions) has grown to become the nation’s leading peer-to-peer youth education, prevention and advocacy organization with thousands of chapters in middle schools, high schools and colleges.
SADD, Inc. is proud to make available nine scholarships, each in the amount of $500, to students enrolled or committed to enroll full-time in an accredited 2-year or 4-year college and who demonstrate a commitment to SADD’s mission. The scholarships will be awarded on merit and may be paid either to the school or directly to the applicant.
All applications will be reviewed by an impartial committee comprised of members of the SADD National staff and the SADD National Student Leadership Council. The decision of the committee will be final. Winners will be announced at the SADD National Conference June 24 -27, 2012, in Los Angeles, California. Applicants need not be present to win. An email status notification will be sent to all applicants once the selection process is complete.
Eligibility:
The applicant must be:
- Entering his or her freshman year of college
- Enrolled or committed to enroll full-time in an accredited college or university during the 2012-2013 academic year
- Dedicated to living the SADD lifestyle (i.e., safe and substance-free)
- A resident of the United States
- In a registered SADD chapter (If your chapter doesn’t have a Chapter Registration certificate dated July 1, 2011 or later, your chapter must register at www.sadd.org prior to submitting a scholarship application. Members of the SADD National Student Leadership Council are not eligible.

Application Guidelines:
- Applicants must submit one original and one photocopy of the entire application by mail postmarked no later than Friday, April 20, 2012, or one electronic copy via email to scholarship@sadd.org received no later than 11:59 P.M. EST.
- All elements of the application must be mailed in one envelope or, if submitted electronically, attached to one email
- Extra materials will not be considered
All guidelines must be adhered to in order to be considered eligible.
Awards:
- The scholarship money may be paid directly to the applicant or sent to the school on the applicant’s behalf.
- The scholarship may not be deferred or renewed.
- Award winners will be required to provide proof of matriculation and appropriate identification information upon award notification.
- Award winners must agree to provide a photo and participate in limited publicity initiatives by SADD.
Deadlines:
- All application materials should be sent to the SADD National office at the address below and must be postmarked by Friday, April 20, 2012, or via email to scholarship@sadd.org received no later than 11:59 P.M. EST.
