Take it Back is a national, youth-directed movement to reduce alcohol problems. More than 350 youth groups, including nearly 80 SADD chapters, will simultaneously hold youth-led Community Briefings to call attention to alcohol as the single most important health issue facing young people today.
At the briefings, youth will present data they collected in their own community and present it to local audiences. They will also identify key issues they will be working on in the future based on the research they have found.
SADD Teens Today research reveals that by 12th grade more than three in four teens are drinking. This research also shows that 73 percent of teens reported that their parents are most influential on their decision not to drink.
“We are proud that the empowered students of SADD will add their voices with other young people across the country who share their concerns about this important issue,” said Penny Wells, Executive Director of SADD. “We are delighted that SADD and FACE have joined forces in this inaugural partnership.”
Penny Norton, Director of FACE – Resources, Training & Action on Alcohol Issues states, “FACE is proud to sponsor these youth groups who are unafraid to tell the truth about what is going on in their communities regarding the use and misuse of alcohol.”SADD is a proud sponsor of the Take It Back Community Briefings.
