SADD chapters can participate in Lights on for Life Day in a number of ways.
- Tell people to drive with their headlights on during the third Friday in December to represent the lives lost from impaired drivers.
- Place notices asking for participation in faculty and student mailboxes at your school.
- Publicize Lights on for Life Day in one or several ways.
- Design and distribute posters and fliers in the school and community describing the event.
- Make announcements to the school.
- Ask radio stations to announce Lights on for Life Day during rush hour when most people are in their cars listening to the radio.
- Ask local newspapers to print a notice each day during the week preceding the event.
Lights on for Life Day kicks off National Holiday Lifesavers Weekend. By participating in Lights on for Life Day, SADD chapters will join with others across the country to recognize those who have been killed or injured by impaired drivers and to remind the public that alcohol and drug-related crashes are preventable.
