DEPRESSION AND SUICIDE
Clinical depression is a serious illness that affects the thoughts, feelings, behavior, and general health of men and women of all ages. Every 17 minutes, someone in America commits suicide and another 25 Americans attempt it. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people ages 15-24, and it is the eighth leading cause of death among all persons. These sobering statistics from the American Association of Suicidology illustrate the increasing need for suicide awareness, prevention, and treatment.
