SPECIAL CONFERENCE ACTIVITIES
Community-Service
Project
In an effort to give back to the community where we host our conference, we
will sponsor a community-service project and ask conference participants to
collect items for a worthy cause in Greater Boston. Details about the community-service
project will be posted on the SADD Web site at www.sadd.org in March 2006.
Spirit Stick
So you want your state to win the Spirit Stick in Boston? In the past, Conference
has been kicked off with state cheers, but dont bother preparing one
this year its time for the Spirit Stick to represent a states
personality more than its volume. The Spirit Stick is an award, not a competition.
SADD National and the SLC give this award to the state participants who display
they are intent on continuing to carry out the mission of SADD and SADDs
goals at the National Conference. Were looking for the state delegation
that exemplifies SADD, is incredibly helpful, polite, interested, and courteous
during workshops and speaker presentations, and participates in all conference
activities. Show the SLC and National Staff, along with everyone in Boston,
how much fun youre having at conference and how proud you are to be
a member of SADD.
T-Shirt Swap
You are invited to participate in the third annual T-Shirt Swap. Bring a new
T-shirt to conference and exchange it for a ticket at the information table
prior to noon on Sunday, July 16, 2006. You will redeem your ticket for a
T-shirt of your choice at the T-Shirt Swap during the Gala on Sunday night.
Participants in previous T-shirt swaps have enjoyed getting shirts from other
chapters and state conferences, but you can bring a shirt from your town,
city, or state, too.
Help Raise Money for the SADD College Scholarship Fund
The Scholarship Fund was started at the 2002 SADD National Conference. Each
year a Penny Drive has been conducted at conference, but two years ago, the
State Coordinators began raising funds by hosting a silent auction at their
meeting and last year the Silent Auction was opened to adults attending conference.
To date, more than $3,000 has been raised and six scholarships have been awarded.
You can help continue this program by participating in the Silver for SADD
and Silent Auction events during conference.
