[NAME OF HIGH SCHOOL] STUDENTS CELEBRATE
SADD’S 25TH ANNIVERSARY AT NATIONAL CONFERENCE

[NAME OF SCHOOL] SADD students are getting ready for a special journey; they will travel to Boston, Massachusetts, for the 2006 SADD National Conference, which promises to be the most exciting ever. From July 14-17, 600 youth leaders and adult advisors from 36 states across the country will gather in Boston for "The SADD Revolution Continues … 25 Years of Empowering Youth."

"This is a chance for us to be a part of history and to celebrate SADD’s 25 years of success," [NAME OF SADD STUDENT SERVING AS THE CHAPTER SPOKESPERSON AND HIS/HER TITLE] said. "Students from our school are dedicated to SADD’s mission, and we are proud to be part of a national grassroots effort to help our peers make safe, positive decisions."

At the conference students will participate in workshops and activities to develop leadership skills, share ideas, and learn new prevention strategies that can be put into action back home in their school and community. This will be the biggest conference in its 25-year history.

Founded as Students Against Driving Drunk in 1981 in Wayland, Massachusetts, SADD has grown to become the nation’s dominant peer-led youth education and prevention organization, with 10,000 chapters in middle schools, high schools, and colleges. In 1997, in response to requests from SADD students themselves, SADD expanded its mission and adopted a new name, Students Against Destructive Decisions. With its expanded focus, SADD now highlights prevention of all destructive behaviors and attitudes that are harmful to young people, including underage drinking, substance abuse, impaired driving, and teen violence and suicide.
