Real Life SADD: Project Sticker Shock
Cameron High School SADD students participated in Project Sticker Shock, a campaign featuring youth-designed stickers adhered to multi-packs of alcoholic beverages in participating retail stores to warn adults over the age of 21 of the consequences of purchasing alcohol for minors. By collaborating with local retail stores and linking with Marshall County’s Youth in Action team, these students took on a challenge to reduce youth’s access to alcohol in Marshall County with the hope of creating lasting change. SADD students were responsible for contacting various businesses to gain participation for this effort and were granted access to place a total of 2,700 stickers on multi-packs of alcohol. The Cameron SADD students received media coverage for their efforts in the West Virginia PrevNet Magazine, which highlights prevention-related news across the state, and in the Moundsville Echo and The Intelligencer. See below for an example of their stickers and pictures of the students in action.
