Real Life SADD: SADD Night Out
Nemaha Valley High School students in Seneca, Kansas, host an annual SADD Night Out. This event is an opportunity that gives the “small-town” kids of Nemaha Valley something to do other than potentially putting themselves in harmful and destructive situations. This year’s theme “Ice, Ice Baby,” offered an ice bazaar – complete with sundaes, slushies, smoothies, and snow cones. For $2 students could attend the event, eat, and then play games of their choice for the rest of the night. The SADD chapter put various activities in different areas of the school, including volleyball, basketball, Ping-Pong, dodgeball, video games, and board games. The SADD chapter found that if given alternatives for a Saturday night, students make safer choices.
